In some form there has been healthcare offered to the people of this community on this location since 1949, although the community hospital itself wasn't formed until 1960. But, due to changing community finances, mostly because of the decline in the lumber industry, the hospital struggled to stay open. After much research and support from the community, the hospital district was formed in 1980. Since that time, there have been many changes, but the overall mission of the district has remained the same: to provide the highest level of quality care possible in light of the varying needs of this diverse population.

In the face of the many changes in the national healthcare environment, the district continues its efforts to serve this community. Its recent change to a Critical Access Hospital has helped move it towards a more stable future. Your tremendous outpouring of community support, in the form of the tax initiative, has told us that your hospital is important to you. We will do everything we can to be good stewards of your support.
